RIP Medical Debt has lead campaigns working with hospital execs and board members at the highest levels. One such campaign wiped out $287M worth of medical debt. Another campaign to approach local VA hospitals, with Jerry Ashton being himself a veteran, has wiped out over $100,000,000 un unpaid veteran and military medical debt.
“If they don’t know about you, they can’t do anything about you” as Jerry Ashton learned in his previous experience at RIP Medical Debt. Once RIP put this formula to work: awareness, resonance, education and action, there was no stopping them.
Charged with Education and Engagement at RIP, it was Ashton’s task to create an image of RIP as a charity unique in its desire to make as many people as possible aware of the problem of unpaid medical debt – and the to see RIP as a major part of the solution To those ends, Ashton and his team created the first-ever medical debt summits which for several years in a row brought academics,, industry executives, reporters, patient advocates and even the CFPG together for a one-day conference (the last being virtual) that received welcome attention.
